Officials increasingly concerned about cargo scanning

Although aviation security efforts since Sept. 11, 2001, have largely focused on passengers and their checked bags, officials are starting to turn their attention to air cargo screening. Previous cargo screening programs have been targeted at contraband rather than explosives, and experts say it could be several years before reliable automatic explosive-detection technology is widely available for cargo screening.
