D.C.-area students embrace AP, IB

Public high school students in the District of Columbia and 21 neighboring localities take Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams at a higher rate than any other part of the country, finds a Washington Post survey. Many students believe the challenging AP and IB classes boost their chances of admission to good schools and prepare them for the demands of college work.
