Study: Rates rising faster at higher-tier hotels

A study examining booking and rate data in the first nine months of the year finds that, worldwide, room rates are rising faster at higher-tier hotels than at budget properties, and rates are continuing their double-digit growth in major cities. The data, compiled by HRG and based on input from HRG U.K. clients, found that rates at five-star hotels rose 15.2% compared to 2005, while rates at budget properties rose 4.8%.
