Atcher lauds CMS plan to cover NaF-18 PET scans for bone metastasis

The CMS' proposal to cover some sodium fluoride-18 PET imaging scans for bone metastasis of cancer can be considered "progress," said Robert W. Atcher, SNM's immediate past-president. The CMS "will reimburse for the bone scans and at the same time, we will be in a position to gather data to demonstrate the value of NaF-18 PET imaging to CMS ... we are in much better shape than we are right now which is having no coverage whatsoever for NaF-18 PET imaging," Atcher said.
