Basel Committee to set updated capital rules for banks

Leverage ratios and minimum liquidity requirements are expected to be the sticking points this week as the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision meets to determine reforms of banks' capital requirements. The committee is expected to publish by the end of January its draft reforms. It will then take comments and conduct an impact assessment of the changes. By the end of next year, the Basel Committee is expected to implement the requirements.
