Quality of care uneven at U.S. nursing homes

Quality of care at the 16,000 nursing homes included in the government's first ratings is uneven, but for-profit corporations generally had lower scores than nonprofit facilities, a report said. The Scripps Howard News Service analysis of CMS data also showed nursing homes with more than 100 beds and those located in Southern states got lower scores.
