Expert: Put off pruning for plants that were devastated by frost

Gardeners should delay trimming plant foliage affected by frost until the latter part of winter so that plants can recuperate and develop new growth, writes horticulturist Tony Tomeo. Pruning early will only intensify the plant's exposure to freezing temperatures and cause more damage, he explains.
