Fructose may have metabolic risks for diabetes patients

Fructose intake is associated with increased levels of serum triglycerides, uric acid and high blood pressure, which may outweigh its blood glucose benefits, especially in patients with diabetes, said Dr. James Rosenzweig of Boston University. The research indicates that fructose may add to co-morbidities already seen in patients with diabetes, Rosenzweig said.
