Though it dipped insignificantly over last year, Google continues to control 44% of global online advertising, according to a ZenithOptimedia report. The report could be bad timing for a company defending itself against allegations of monopoly control: Yahoo and Microsoft trail far behind at 8.3% and 4% respectively. Combined with Facebook, the four control 59.5% of the global market share. Internet spending represents 16% of advertising expenditure, with paid search leading the pack.
