NYC maintenance workers authorize strike if no deal is reached

Members of the union representing 22,000 commercial cleaning workers in New York voted to authorize a strike if a new contract is not agreed upon by Jan. 1. The Service Employees International Union does not have to call a strike, but is now empowered to do so.
