Patient education is critical to care, cardiac RN says

Short hospital stays make it very important to focus on educating patients and family about the seriousness of heart disease and what actions they can take, says cardiac access unit manager Nancy Levy of the Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute in Morristown, N.J. She says staff members explain procedures, talk about lifestyle behaviors that lead to heart disease and give out written information for patients to use at home.
