Industry, development groups and the United Nations are coming together to bring data and mapping to bear on humanitarian crises. Vodafone, which has 10 years experience in acting as a first responder in disaster situations, has worked with the UN in supporting missions and delivering aid. Aaron Sherinian, vice president of communications at the UN Foundation, said, "Real-time data and mapping are crucial when helping to save lives."
