Vermont remains the healthiest state in U.S.

The United Health Foundation declared Vermont as the healthiest state for the fifth consecutive year in its 2011 America's Health Rankings, citing the region's high rates of high school graduation and low cases of infectious disease. The rankings, which considered 23 factors including smoking, prenatal care and obesity, also listed New Hampshire, Connecticut, Hawaii and Massachusetts among the top five healthiest states.
