Apple, Samsung argue over $1 billion award in patent trial

Apple and Samsung Electronics continued their wrangling before a federal judge on Thursday even as she pleaded with the rivals to find "global peace" in their ongoing patent wars. Judge Lucy Koh made her comments after lawyers for the companies argued over a jury's August decision to award Apple $1.05 billion for smartphone patent violations, a decision that Koh has the ability to amend. At one point, the judge seemed to sympathize with Samsung arguments that the award was too steep.
