High fuel prices, cutthroat competition may thwart recovery in 2005

Analysts expect the airline industry to continue to struggle next year. Gary Kelly, chief executive of Southwest Airlines, said the industry is in a "permanent low-fare environment." He expects only low-fare carriers will survive.
