Bay Bridge delays cost taxpayers $81 million

Delays in the construction of a new eastern span for the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge wound up costing taxpayers and toll-payers an additional $81 million, according to the California Department of Transportation. The delays were the result of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's calls for a less expensive construction design.
