FDA mulls new rules for ice cream

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is considering proposals that would allow ice cream to be made with milk from animals other than cows, as well as new requirements for pasteurization and artificial flavors. Some dairy farmers complain that changing the rules would mean ice cream manufacturers could use inexpensive milk from overseas without informing consumers.
