Microsoft seeks expanded piece of online ad pie

"Online advertising is of keen interest to us," Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer told a Washington, D.C., technology conference, adding that the Redmond, Wash.-based software company is increasingly focusing "on what it means to do a better job in display advertising, what it means to do a better job in paid listings and sponsored search advertising." Currently Microsoft is in talks with America Online, reportedly to persuade the network to drop Google as its search partner and add MSN Search in exchange for a guaranteed share of ad revenues.
