Flat-screen TVs raise energy concerns

Plasma TVs, which are 50% larger than their cathode-ray tube equivalents, "consume about four times more energy," according to a U.K. government-funded study. Philips, however, rejects the idea that the popular screens are a power problem, saying there is no clear consensus on energy use. A company representative also notes that advances in technology will rapidly make all screens more efficient.
