Nonprofit to help D.C. charters manage finances, leadership

A new nonprofit organization will provide practical advice and support for charter schools next year in Washington, D.C., according to the area's charter-school board. Members say the group is needed to help charters improve leadership and better manage their finances. "There's a lot of focus with academic achievement for schools," said the board's outgoing chairman, who is organizing the group. "There's not nearly as much work done helping establish best practices for financial management and governance."
