House lawmakers seek extended review schedule for drilling plans

Members of the House of Representatives proposed a continuing resolution to extend the Department of the Interior's review period for oil and natural gas drilling plans from 30 to 90 days. In a letter Tuesday, Sens. Mary Landrieu, D-La., and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, wrote that the proposal was "unnecessary." Should Congress reject the measure, the department would need to add personnel to meet the 30-day requirement, an Interior representative said.
