Transmitting wind power ashore is no problem, says Dominion

Dominion Virginia Power says it could bring up to 1,500 megawatts of power to land if a wind farm were to be built off the Virginia coast. The existing transmission-line infrastructure would be well-suited for a 4,500-MW offshore wind farm, which would usually be expected to run at around one-third of capacity. Upgrades would be needed if wind developers wanted to bring more energy ashore, officials said.
