United eyes joint ventures in Canada, Latin America:

After completing a mega-merger within the U.S., United Airlines is looking to expand joint ventures within the Americas, according to CEO Jeff Smisek. "Latin America is an area that we're keenly interested in," Smisek said Wednesday. "We're also looking at potentially having a trans-border joint venture with our friends at Air Canada." United currently has joint ventures in place with Lufthansa for trans-Atlantic flights and All Nipppon Airways for trans-Pacific routes.
