Ala. city powers police cruisers with propane autogas

The city of Vestavia Hills, Ala., converted 14 police cars to propane autogas in hopes of saving around $25,000 in fuel costs next year. Cars that run on propane autogas perform better, and "especially on a cold start, they seem to handle these hills a lot better," said city Police Chief Dan Rary. A federal grant shouldered the cost of the conversions.
