Study: Employees are likely to pay more for health coverage in 2012

More than half of employers will charge workers more for health coverage next year, and nearly 40% of employers said they will raise deductibles, according to a study by the National Business Group on Health. In 2011, employees faced premiums that rose four times faster than their wages, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. The expected increases in worker costs are driven in part by expenses to employers, as companies' health care costs rose 6.1% in 2011 and are expected to increase 5.7% next year, according to Mercer.
