Hackers have been using infected PDF files sent via e-mail to compromise computers in the U.S. industrial sector, including chemical and defense firms, according to Symantec. The security company said the attacks exploit a vulnerability in Adobe's Reader software and use a type of malware identical to that employed in 2010 to target weaknesses in Internet Explorer. Symantec said the infected files were distributed in early November.
