Observers expect a "fiscal cliff" solution early next year

Some observers of the negotiations in Washington have concluded that going over the "fiscal cliff" might be preferable if it means structuring a comprehensive package early next year. "I would take it into next year if that means you're going to get a better deal," said Mark Zandi, chief economist with Moody's Analytics. However, many experts say that if the tax increases and spending cuts remain in place, they will throw the economy into recession.
