China sharpens trade finance scrutiny

China's State Administration of Foreign Exchange says it plans to step up scrutiny of commercial banks' trade finance businesses, targeting irregular cross-border foreign-exchange movement. The regulator is calling on banks to "actively support authentic trade finance demands by the real economy but prevent companies from getting trade finance by making up trade backgrounds."
