Link between liver cancer and diabetes is more pronounced among minorities

Among people with diabetes, Latinos had the highest odds of developing hepatocellular carcinoma, followed by Hawaiians, blacks and Japanese-Americans, a National Cancer Institute-funded study showed. Latinos were also 2.77 times more likely to develop HCC compared with non-Hispanic whites, according to the study presented at the annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research.
