Mariano's growth strategy could help other Roundy's banners

Roundy's Chairman, President and CEO Bob Mariano's approach to store-growth success with his namesake grocery chain could be applied on a larger-scale to Roundy's 160 stores and smaller banners, analysts say, as a way to boost its earnings, profits and value for shareholders. The Mariano's chain, which includes more than 50 stores in Chicago, could even succeed as a spin-off chain if it succeeds in such markets as St. Louis, Mo., and Minneapolis, Minn., says Wolfe Research Analyst Scott Mushkin.
