Brown, Sarkozy, Barroso call for increased cooperation

U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Jose Manuel Barroso, president of the European Commission, urged EU leaders to increase cooperation to respond to the financial crisis. "It's time for pragmatism," Barroso said. "A strong level of coordination is needed." The men met Monday in London at Brown's request. European leaders are set to meet Thursday in Brussels, Belgium.
