Federal funds lead Louisiana officials to consider merit pay

Louisiana officials are revising their strategy for going after federal Race to the Top funds -- focusing more on evaluating educators and teacher merit pay than their previous plan of voluntary school reform. Officials say they recognize that linking teacher pay to student test scores will mean changes to some negotiated contracts with teachers unions, which will be asked for their consent.
