Gift cards become bargains

Retailers and restaurants are putting gift cards on sale this season. Grocery stores, drugstore chains and casual eateries are all adding value to their gift cards, either by cutting the price or offering credit on future purchases. "It's a direct result of [retailers] listening to their customers who say, 'Hey, I really can't afford to give $50 out of my pocket this year,' " said National Retail Federation spokeswoman Kathy Grannis.
