Pennsylvania hospital reaps benefits from device interoperability

Lancaster General Health has worked with Cerner and Hospira to implement an auto-programmed, interoperable system that links its EHRs, barcode medication administration and bedside infusion pumps, leading to improved clinical work flow and patient safety. The linked technology "provides an additional layer of safety than the stand-alone technologies," said a Lancaster pharmacist.
