Regulator: No escape from NAIC's climate-risk disclosure poll

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners plans to solicit information for its climate-risk disclosure survey from the subsidiaries of carriers in another state if the regulator in their state of domicile declines to administer the poll, said Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Joel Ario, head of NAIC's Climate Change and Global Warming Task Force. The announcement stunned insurance-trade associations, which are opposing the survey. PCI's David Kodoma said NAIC should respect the decision of a regulator who might find the survey not suitable for his or her state.
