Federal report recommends use of universal language in HIEs

A President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology report is proposing that health information exchanges adopt a "universal exchange language" to allow patients to have more control over their data and ensure privacy protection. The report also suggests integrating such universal language into the Stage 2 and 3 meaningful use requirements.
