Vitter holds up Doney's NOAA nomination over new drilling freeze

Sen. David Vitter, R-La., will block the nomination of Scott Doney for chief scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration until the government explains its decision to prohibit drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and along the Atlantic Coast. Vitter said that he wants testimony from Steve Black, a counselor to Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, and Carol Browner, the top White House adviser on energy and climate change. "Louisianians are [made] distraught by your administration's disregard for scientific integrity, the health of the U.S. economy and domestic energy production," he added.
