EasyJet tests ash-cloud avoidance system over Mount Etna

Budget carrier easyJet has tested a new system for evading ash clouds called AVOID. The carrier tested the technology, which allows pilots to see ash clouds, over Mount Etna, an active European volcano. In 2010, the eruption of Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano halted air traffic in Europe because of ash clouds.
