Study: Prehypertension treatment reduces risk of stroke

Taking blood pressure drugs can cut the risk of stroke by about 22% in people with prehypertension, according to a study scheduled to be published in Stroke. Prehypertension treatment did not significantly reduce the rate of heart attacks but did lower cardiovascular deaths, though the numbers were not statistically significant, researchers said.
