Advances in direct printing on bottles could eventually phase out paper labels, Ben Miyares writes. Direct printing on bottles is now available for both glass and plastic containers, and advances have made the practice more affordable and sustainable. Stand-up pouches and shelf-stable cartons and barrier cups are gaining popularity as a replacement for metal cans.
