Calif. schools offer middle-school class on "mindfulness"

Sixth-grade students in Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach, Calif., can take an elective class on "mindfulness" that incorporates neuroscience and meditation. The class is part of a program called MindUP that aims to help students develop empathy and self control by teaching them the brain science of emotions along with techniques, such as yoga, and doing good deeds to improve their mood.
