Laura Benedict, owner of the Red Barn in Augusta, Maine, turned around her struggling restaurant with weekly charity events to build a reputation among local residents. Benedict offered periodic food buffets in exchange for suggested donations benefiting local charities. "It worked almost immediately, and it revitalized the business," Benedict said.
