Life-skills class blends academic, practical lessons

Students in a life-skills class at a Iowa high school are learning about academics, such as math, English and social studies, through hands-on, real-world lessons. They also are gaining life skills they will use after graduation. Students in the class practice their skills by visiting a Life Skills house every other week, where they learn housekeeping, cooking and other duties used in daily life.
