Mashups and GIFs make Tumblr's sponsored posts popular

Tumblr's introduction of in-stream sponsored posts has not driven the microblogging audience away as some predicted. Universal Pictures earned viral traffic with a GIF for the movie "Despicable Me 2," and brands such as Converse, Ford and Home Depot have also used the platform to promote shareable GIFs.
