Big or small, retailers are figuring out the Web

While Sears, Roebuck and Co. and Wal-Mart aggressively expand their online presence, thousands of niche, local retailers are gaining a national presence with their Web sites. Search-engine advertising has made it easier for small companies to be seen online, while large companies have found success using their Web sites to test new products.
