Congress to consider $475M lock for Great Lakes

Congress will consider funding a $475 million project to build a new lock at Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. The undertaking by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would be the largest project on the Great Lakes in a generation. The lock would connect Lake Superior to the lower four Great Lakes, a route that currently handles 80 million tons of cargo each year.
