Although setting up international retail operations is fraught with difficulties and obstacles, Costco is considering entering Spain, France, India and Australia. After launching in the US 25 years ago, Costco expanded into Canada and then Mexico. Eventually, the company made its way into the UK, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and other countries. Jim Murphy, senior vice president for international relations at Costco, said the firm is planning to double its international business within the next 15 years.
