Hotel association says NYC tax increase would drive away visitors

The Hotel Association of New York City is blasting a proposal that would increase the city's hotel tax from the current 5% to 5.875%. Supporters say the measure is needed to help pay for city services, but the group says that with hotels already grappling with a 20% decrease in November hotel revenue compared with last year, the added tax would only drive more visitors away.
