Health centers to receive about $600 million in IT, construction grants

The federal government will issue almost $600 million in grants under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to fund "construction, technology and a medical home demonstration project" at several community health facilities nationwide, President Barack Obama said. The grants include $88 million to help the centers convert to electronic health records and adopt other IT systems to manage their clinical processes and boost patient care.
