Report: California ports should prepare for rising seas

Rising sea levels in California could threaten the state's 104 ports and shipping hubs, according to a Sea Level Rise Preparedness report. Over the next 40 years, sea levels could rise 16 inches in California, causing flooding and other damage to seaports. "This is going to be part of a continuing battle and a continuing planning effort," said Paul Thayer, executive officer of the California State Lands Commission.
